16 AI Startups Just Shocked the Bay Area—You Won't Believe What They Unveiled at Demo Day!

On January 15th, the Future Tech Phase 2 Demo Day, part of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), showcased the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) at Cyberport in Hong Kong. This event, themed "Intelligent Connectivity in the Greater Bay Area, Envisioning the Future," featured 16 standout AI startups from across the nation, each presenting innovative solutions in various fields, including digital twins, legal services, healthcare, intelligent manufacturing, low-altitude economies, and cognitive technology.
The WAIC Future Tech platform aims to serve as a full-cycle partner for startups, addressing the common challenges of early-stage ventures: gaining exposure, securing financing, and implementing solutions. The event marks a significant evolution for WAIC since its inception in 2024, as it strives to build a cross-regional and cross-field innovation ecosystem that fosters efficient connectivity between technology, capital, and practical applications. Future Tech plans to deepen this role and expand its annual event matrix in 2026, reinforcing industrial matching and providing overseas support to help high-quality projects gain international recognition.
At the event, Ms. Su Jie, Director of Greater Bay Area and Mainland Affairs at Cyberport, highlighted the hub's ecosystem approach, which connects universities, accelerators, the government, and large enterprises to foster innovation. She emphasized that Cyberport's comprehensive services include computing power support, regulatory communication, and international matching, particularly in fields like AI, blockchain, and low-altitude economies. This collaborative framework is designed to help startups broaden their reach and operate on a global scale.
Ms. Huang Letong, founder of the Asian Artificial Intelligence Startup Competition and Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence Innovation Association, discussed how the competition serves as a "springboard for future unicorns." With the goal of "Empowering the global future with artificial intelligence," the competition has attracted 118 projects in Hong Kong and nearly 800 nationwide, showcasing the robust vitality of innovation in the region.
